Terms of Service
Last updated October 30, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Host-Caster ("we", "us") for using the hosted Host-Caster service: this website, the web app at https://app.host-caster.com and the Host-Caster phone apps when they are signed in to our service. We kept them short and plain. Please read them, because by creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
The Host-Caster software is also available as open source under the MIT license. If you run it yourself, the MIT license applies to the software and these terms do not apply to your own server.
1. Your account
- You need to be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- Give us a working email address and keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- An account is for one person. Do not share it or sell access to it.
2. Plans and payments
- You can use Host-Caster for free with your own AI and voices. Paid plans include AI, voices or both, and are billed monthly in advance through our payment provider, Stripe.
- Plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. The price you pay is the one shown when you subscribe, plus any tax that applies where you live.
- If we change a price, we tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, we try again for a few days. If it still fails, your plan ends and your account moves to Free.
3. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your account in the app. Your plan keeps working until the end of the month you already paid for, and is then not renewed. Refunds are covered in Cancellation and refunds.
4. Fair use
Included AI and voices come with a monthly fair use amount, shown on the pricing page as approximate listening hours. When you reach it, a scripted fallback and your device's voice fill in until your next month starts. We may also limit or pause included AI for an account that uses it in ways that are not normal personal listening, such as automated use or using it for something other than Host-Caster.
5. Your music and your content
- Your songs stay on your devices. We do not host, upload, sell or share music. You are responsible for having the right to play the music you use with Host-Caster.
- What you put into Host-Caster (your hosts, stations, notes, About me and settings) stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service for you, including sending the parts needed to write a break to the AI and voice providers that make it.
- Breaks your hosts say are made for you. You may use them as you like for your own personal use.
6. AI hosts and what they say
Hosts are written by AI. They can be wrong, out of date or odd, and they may mention things from your calendar, email or notes that you chose to connect. Do not rely on them for news, medical, legal, financial or safety advice, or for anything where a mistake would matter. You choose which topics and sources each station uses, and you can turn any of them off.
7. Other services you connect
You can connect other services, such as your own AI or voice provider, Google, Spotify, YouTube or an email account. Their own terms and prices apply, and you pay them directly. We are not responsible for those services, and they can change or stop working with Host-Caster at any time.
8. Rules for using the service
Use Host-Caster lawfully and follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In short: do not use it to harm others, do not attack or overload the service, do not copy voices of real people without their consent, and do not resell it.
9. Changes and availability
- We work hard to keep Host-Caster running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of bugs. Features may change as the service grows.
- If we make a change to these terms that matters to you, we tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account.
10. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time from the app. Deleting it cancels any plan and removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. Where we can, we warn you first and explain why.
11. Warranties and liability
We provide Host-Caster "as is". To the extent the law allows, we do not give warranties beyond those in these terms, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data you did not back up. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited, or our liability for things the law does not allow us to exclude.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where Host-Caster is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a problem, please write to us first; most things can be sorted out quickly.
